Floyd’s Story

Site created on May 30, 2018

Floyd kicked off Memorial Day weekend by winning a golf tournament Saturday morning. He then traveled to KC to visit his family. After dinner Saturday night, he suffered a series of strokes. He has damage to the left side of his brain, which has made it hard for him to communicate and caused some right-sided paralysis. He is currently at a hospital in KC surrounded by friends and family. We appreciate all your thoughts and prayers.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Liz Sowers

Wow how time flies. Hope this update finds everyone doing well. Mom and dad are settling well into their new house in Kansas City. A few days ago dad got a new power wheelchair, which he is learning how to navigate pretty well.  It has allowed him to have more freedom to get away from Mom and me whenever he wants to which I think he likes. Words are still hard to come by but he is getting stronger everyday. He walks every night to bed and is hardly needing my assistance. Mom is able to walk with him without me. (I stand by just in case, he's not THAT good yet, lol). Needless to say we are all hanging in there. Dad has been a trooper through all of this, and for the first time I see a glimpse of hope for the future in his eyes, that at one point in this journey I never thought I would see again. We miss Hesston and hope to get back to visit soon.
