If Finis wasn't already a rock star, today sealed the deal! 🤩 We went in for his 2 week post-op checkup today. Fin has been leaking some fluid from the incision for about a week now. At first we all thought it was normal healing drainage. But the past few days I became more worried that it was Cerebral Spinal Fluid (CSF). Today it was confirmed that he does have a CSF leak. A CSF leak opens him up for infection, including meningitis and a whole slew of symptoms. To hopefully fix it he need some extra stitches. This boy is a beast! He took 3 stitches, in the already tender incision, without pain killers! Now for him to rest and take it easy. We really need his dura patch to heal properly. For that to happen he needs to have bed rest and nothing that may raise his bloodpressure or his intracranial pressure. This is particularly difficult right now because of how good he feels. His pain is manageable and he wants to be up and about. It's a double edged sword in a way. You don't want to be in pain but you need the pain to remind you take it easy. Good thing he is committed to do whatever he needs to heal properly. It doesn't hurt that it means more video games. 😆 I couldn't be more proud! Low key 4th here we come!
