Andrea’s Story

Site created on April 10, 2023

Welcome to Andrea Paul's  CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. .

Andrea Paul was diagnosed with colon cancer on April 5, 2023. We had seen news stories the day before on both local and national news about colon cancer cases being on the rise in adults under 50 years old. Andrea had been having gastric and intestinal symptoms for many months. She was even hospitalized for ten days in November because of her symptoms, but they did not do testing to rule  out  colon cancer.

The diagnosis was a total shock!

This  unthinkable diagnosis is  complicated by the fact that Andrea was 32 weeks pregnant at the time of diagnosis.
Needed scans, surgery, and treatment plans will have to be  put on hold until the baby is safely delivered.
Please join Andrea as she journeys through the fight of her life.

We appreciate your support, prayers,  and words of hope and encouragement.
Thank you.

( and please, if you have any symptoms that may indicate colon cancer, insist that your medical provider do thorough testing, even if you are young. Andrea had symptoms for many months, and we can’t help but wonder if things could have been different if diagnosed earlier.)

Journal entry by Paul Family

Andrea  had a radiation session yesterday at Buffett Cancer Center, and also had a visit with the radiology oncologist. Her next session is tomorrow. We are hopeful that the radiation will shrink the tumors on her liver.

Thank you for your prayers, positive  thoughts, encouragement, and support.
