It is with deep sadness that we share with you that our beloved Father Phil passed away this morning around 1:30 am. He was surrounded by his team of caregivers who have been caring for him around the clock. As the spiritual leader of our parish, mentor and friend, Father Phil holds an important place in our hearts, and his legacy in our community will live on through us. While we are saddened by our loss, we also have reason to be thankful and hopeful as Father Phil is no longer in pain, and he is in Heaven, his eternal home.
This morning we will have our planned communion service at 7:35 am for the Resurrection school children where we will include special prayers for Father Phil. All are invited to attend. For those in our community who want to gather in prayer we will open our church for quiet prayer time from 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm this evening. We will have music playing but no formal service. We will share information about visitation and funeral services for Father Phil as soon as plans are finalized.
We will have a Children’s Mass to Celebrate Father Phil’s life later this week. This service will be during school and will be a way for the students to celebrate, honor and acknowledge his passing in way that is meant for their age and understanding. For many or most students this service may be in lieu of attending the funeral. Parents are welcome to join their children for this Mass. More information about day and time of this service will be sent out as soon as it is available. We appreciate your prayers for our parish community including our church, school and staff at this difficult time. We are praying for you and your family too.
A $25 donation powers a page like Philip's for two weeks.
If you donate by May 12, your gift will be doubled, up to $10,000, thanks to a gift from Living Water Foundation.
