Welcome to Evie's Caringbridge site! For 17 years, Evie has lived with a chronic kidney disease called FSGS. Within the last couple of years, her kidney function has drastically decreased, to the point where she was told it was time to be added to the list of people waiting for a kidney donation. In December of 2012, she was added to the list in South Dakota. At the end of March, she was also added to the list in Nebraska. She was told her wait could be 3-5 years for a donor kidney. But just 3 weeks later, on April 21, she received a call from the Nebraska Med Center that they had a potential match for her! Surgery began just before midnight on April 22. We'll use this site to update you on life with her new kidney!
