We can hardly believe it: Our tiny peanut is already 2 years old!

Weight: 20 lbs, 3 oz.

Height: 32 inches.

Wearing: 18m, 24m and a little 2T! (Clothing sizes can vary!)

Fav foods: Pudding, Cheetos, crackers, peanut butter, applesauce.

Likes: Rattles, music, tickling, snuggling (especially when sleepy!), babbling, and staying up waaaaay past her bedtime.

Dislikes: Sleeves, hats, and medicine hiding in food.

Recent achievements: Taking greater volumes of milk from a sippy cup, and taking medicine (as crushed pills) by mouth instead of via G-tube (as liquids)! We are starting to use her feeding tube port much less and there's even talk of possibly removing it this spring/summer! Woohoo!

Medical related updates:

Her eyesight is decent! She can see well enough, but she does have some weird astigmatism that she might need glasses for someday. She also still has a "lazy eye" (strabismus) that might need eye muscle surgery to correct. Beyond cosmetic reasons, this would also help maintain her decent vision and improve her ability to see (otherwise she might experience double vision).

The Genetics department said nothing was found in the testing we did - so there's no identifiable genetic reason or diagnosis for why she is the way she is. That's pretty good news!

So far, from what we understand from her doctors, her problems mostly stem from her very premature birth: The blood vessels in her brain weren't ready and weren't strong enough, and they leaked blood into her brain tissue when she was born. There's no crystal ball to tell us how much this will impact her, so for now it's "wait and see."

We still have a lot of follow-up appointments coming up, so she will keep us busy. In the next couple of months, we're visiting nephrology, physical med and rehab, neurology, endocrinology, respiratory, gastroenterology, physical therapy, speech/feeding therapy, the dentist and more.

Hopefully these appointments will also result in good news - and fewer required follow-up appointments!
