Hello friends!!
Thanks for visiting Evan ‘s Caring Bridge page.
I will be using this often on as we go back-and-forth to Rochester for Evan‘s appointments, procedures and surgeries. It is 16 years and counting that we have been making these trips.
I am grateful for all of you who followed us, supported us, encouraged us, and prayed for us over all these years.  There is some new  stuff coming up so I will keep you updated on that.
If your new here please feel free to go back and look at past posts.
Rejoice with us how God has so thoroughly and sovereignly taken care of and everything Evan has had to endure.
Thank you for your prayers!!  God bless you!  We love you!!

Newest Update

Journal entry by Gina Young

Hello friends! We we are back in Minnesota for an appointment that Evan has tomorrow with Dr. Moran.
Sorry it’s been a long time since I have posted despite Evan having had a couple appointments. It’s just been a little bit crazy lately with life and the busyness at work. People never stop having babies and actually one night I even cared for a positive Covid mama! Thank you for all of your continued prayers for me in the weariness that my job causes and for my safety and the safety of all healthcare workers everywhere. No unit is immune.
Tomorrow Dr. Moran will be removing the short arm cast that Evan got two weeks ago with a doctor in Omaha. Dr. Gaddie was very nice and told us several times that “Dr. Moran was the expert and he really didn’t want to touch anything!”  He said he had heard him talk at conferences and read several of his publishings. We already know that Dr. Moran is the best! 🙌🏻 when Dr. Gaddie removed the surgical dressing Evan was very upset and he said “mom I am so disappointed, I feel  like everything just went backwards!” It kind of looks as if his wrist was just dangling but fixed at the end of his arm.  And the scar revision didn’t look as he expected.  When they showed us an x-ray (which Children’s refused to allow me to take a picture of like Dr. Moran always lets me do!😤😖) In that we see that there is a rod inside of his arm pretty much the entire length of his forearm. This was not expected. When Dr. Moran removed the fixator he said he would place a metal “plate” between the bone that was separated for the lengthening procedure, I think Evan we both had in our brains a small “metal plate” not long rod. So, we will see more of that rationale and what will happen next when we talk to Dr. Moran tomorrow. Evan is incredibly anxious to get the cast off his arm so he can finally take a real shower!! We think that he will be fitted with a removable splint which will be much better. He has had to wear a big plastic protector to shower on his arm since December... ugh!
We were blessed to have the Shriners provide our transportation again for this trip. But it wasn’t our sweet Mr. Jim and Mr. Bob but instead it was an incredibly sweet couple Neil and Phyllis. They are adorable and so kind!  Again, they just confirm how much I was born in the wrong generation!  They actually met online about seven years ago!  They are a hoot, lots of fun and I enjoyed all of our conversation on the trip up here. Plus between the two of us, I think Phyllis and I had enough Clorox wipes, masks and gloves to protect us very well! 😊 I am surprised they drove us up here actually because Neil just turned 84 and Phyllis is 77!  You would think they were both 25! It is such a huge blessing that they were able to bring us. I worked the last two nights in a row so it was even more of a wonderful blessing just to ride and to have everything taken care of for us.
Thank you for continuing to pray  for continued progress and healing on Evan’s arm and especially for his heart and confidence in his decision.
I pray he can rest in what God is doing through Him and not be discouraged. I am sure that I have probably posted this verse before because this one I often turn to. I think it’s very appropriate for EVAN and in our time now.  We just need to remember that God has always gone before us. God is always with us, and we have no reason to be afraid or worried or discouraged. Sooo.... let’s all try to BE JOYFUL! 🙌🏻💕🙌🏻😊
I will keep you updated on how the appointment goes tomorrow.
