Hello!
We hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season and staying healthy! It’s been a month since Evan came home, and since then he has made incredible progress! He left the hospital using a walker, having difficulty sleeping through the night, and with several follow up appointments ahead of him, the results of which were unknown.
Miraculously, he has not touched the walker since he came home. While he is running and jumping around like the strong, rambunctious little boy he is, he does have more physical therapy to complete in the next few weeks. Please pray for him to be patient and persevere through some of these long, difficult sessions.
Although he is slowly getting back to a normal sleep pattern, he has struggled with waking up in the night and having night terrors or nightmares. This makes it hard to settle him back down and is very distressing to Alex and Kelsey. Please pray for good, restorative sleep for him as well as mom and dad!
Finally, he has now had several of his follow up appointments with specialists and so far all has been reassuring. His cardiologist was not concerned about any long-term heart damage so he will just have one more follow up in 6 months with some labs and tests and hopefully be cleared from a cardiology standpoint. His immunology appointment was also reassuring that there is no underlying deficiency in his immune system that led to him getting so sick. He will have some more labs done in April to make sure, but again, so far good news! He has a nephrology (kidney specialist) appointment next month, but all appears to working well in that department finally :)
Kelsey and Alex remain so overwhelmed and thankful to all of you who have persisted in praying for them. They have been enjoying their time back home together and watching the kids all play together has been such a gift! They would love continued prayers for all of the above, as well as for wisdom in knowing how to return to “normal” life. Please pray they would all stay healthy. And above all, please pray they would know how God wants them to use this experience for His glory!
