Ethan’s Story

Site created on September 3, 2022

On Friday, September 2, E was significantly injured at his football game and was unable to feel anything after a tackle.  He suffered a severe neck & spinal cord injury that has left him paralyzed from the shoulders down.  He has a long road ahead of him but he is a fighter and we have no doubt that he will give it his all.

Thank you for all your kind words & know that they are appreciated even though you may not hear back from us right away.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Cassidy Durkin & Corey Glynn

Busy Spring for E- Hard to believe it's been over 3 months since our last update!  The end of winter here in Minnesota was quick and unusually warm which was just fine to Ethan not having to navigate ice and snow.  Ethan has been busy with school and is anxious for the summer to start.  He keeps busy (and us busy) with activities and friends over constantly visiting and hanging out.  Many of his friends are now driving so often they will take the van and go get food or just cruise around.  We have mentioned it before, Ethans group of friends have been incredible from the day he was injured.  For a group of 15 & 16 year old boys to be like this says a lot about them and more about their parents.

Ethan continues to work hard on his rehab, he goes to OT and PT weekly as well as exercises at home to keep getting stronger.  Recently Ethan was able to go to the NCAA Championship Hockey game here in the Twin Cities which was amazing,  He also was honored by his high school baseball team at one of their home games with a jersey and announced in the starting lineup.  Ethan grew up playing baseball for Bloomington as shortstop, it was amazing to see him back on the field.

Parker is close to finishing up his first year of college and both boys are anxious to have the summer together.  In June we will drive out to Denver to meet with the group from Denver Divers for our scuba trip we were unable to make last year in Cayman Brac.  The anticipation for the trip is building with both excitement and nervous energy, another new adventure as we continue on this winding journey!  Ethan continues to push himself to get stronger and stay true to who he is with a positive attitude and smile.  He just finished watching the NFL draft and is excited his Vikings grabbed a couple Bama players for him to root for, Roll Tide!
