Ethan’s Story

Site created on September 3, 2022

On Friday, September 2, E was significantly injured at his football game and was unable to feel anything after a tackle.  He suffered a severe neck & spinal cord injury that has left him paralyzed from the shoulders down.  He has a long road ahead of him but he is a fighter and we have no doubt that he will give it his all.

Thank you for all your kind words & know that they are appreciated even though you may not hear back from us right away.

We are lucky to have such amazing support.

HOME SWEET HOME- The biggest news since our last post is we brought Ethan home to Bloomington and his old neighborhood in time for Christmas and New Years.  The boys stayed away from the house during the build to make it a surprise.  It was incredibly special and emotional seeing Ethan back home in his house after 16 months.  The freedom and independence the house now gives E is amazing and couldn't have been done without the help and support of so many people.  Since getting home it's been a steady flow of friends, family and neighbors stopping by to welcome us home and see Ethan and Parker.

We were able to put together a last minute NYE party to officially break in the new house, seeing so many friends laughing and hanging out reminded us why we built the house the way we did.

Ethan is back in school now after the holiday break and has worked through the Alabama loss, he continues to attack each day with humor and determination.  Having Parker home during the winter college break has been wonderful, he energizes E the minute he walks in the door.  Definition of what a big brother should be and beyond.

Ethan will be ramping back up his PT and OT now that we are past the holidays and makes it to all his hockey teams game no matter what the distance.  He also has been taking the team bus to some of the away games to able to spend more time with his team.

We finished 2023 on a high note being able to be home once again, looking forward to an exciting and busy 2024!

Thank you for all of the continued support and encouragement!

Cassidy, Corey, Parker and Ethan
