Journal entry by Nadine Gibney

Day 25: Today Ethan had a follow up with a physician here in Minot.  He got a few random staples removed that were still in his right elbow and left hand that were missed during his last surgery. He also got the dressings and staples removed from his left thigh which was the harvest site for his left hand. They did a dressing change of the left hand and arm today also, and the grafts are looking pretty good. They also did an x-ray of his neck as he’s been having some discomfort. The chiropractor appointment yesterday definitely help, but they are just double checking as one was not performed in Colorado. (Being thrown by an explosion 20+ feet into the rig door might cause some pain other than the obvious burns.)

We are waiting for the hand surgeon to get back to us to get an appointment scheduled.  He’s got PT and OT made for next week and another chiropractor appointment tomorrow.  He’s gaining a little bit of weight back which is nice to see. He’s still pretty skinny, but a few more weeks and he will be back to normal. He’s definitely got his appetite back. Multiple trips to the grocery store have been achieved already this week and many more to come. He and Brynn took a run last night for Dairy Queen :) I forgot how much this kid eats! HA!  Other than that, he’s been laying low, taking naps and resting.  Oh and said he’s bored, so that’s a really good sign.

So keep those prayers coming for him, his coworkers and their families.  We are so truly blessed and lucky he’s still here with us!

Lots of love to you all!
