Ethan’s Story

Site created on September 18, 2023

On the evening of September 11th, 2023, Ethan was in a car accident and suffered a severe traumatic brain injury (TBI). He was in a coma for a month, in the hospital, being monitored. Ethan continues to make improvements and each day we are grateful for the hospital staff and family and friends that walk this hard road with us. He is now receiving rehabilitation to get stronger and heal. Please pray for his healing and recovery, as well as for the family during this most difficult time. We believe that God can move mountains and carry us through each new day that he gives us. 🤍

Newest Update

Journal entry by Jen Nelsen

It is hard to believe that I used to frequent this page daily, sometimes hourly, to update you all and ask for your prayers; that’s how fragile our moments felt just months ago. Getting updates to post only occasionally now feels like a gift. A gift that silently thanking God for is the only act that matches the deep exhale that we can finally breathe.  We are still in awe and amazed and what God has done in Ethan. He is truly a miracle.

So here is your update. It’s been awhile. Another gift from God. 🤍

Ethan went back to the CCU and ICU and Neurology Unit this past week to thank everyone. He met with the doctors and nurses. It was very emotional. All those endless walks down the hallways, not sure if he would live or not, brought back an intense amount of emotion and gratitude. Everyone was amazed that Ethan was standing and talking to them. Although he didn’t remember any of them, they remembered him. After many hugs, hand shakes, tears, and smiles, we are reminded of God’s faithfulness, His love, and grace. We are so grateful. For all of them, and for you. Forever we will remember what HE has done for us.
