Journal entry by Heather Reasoner

Esther is 3 weeks old and 1 day and 30 weeks and 4 days gestation.

As the saying goes, no news is good news. That is 100% the case!

Esther is killing it. We are just riding the wave, and each day she gets stronger, hungrier, and breathes better! *Knock on Wood* we hope that this whole trip is nice and boring!

The last two weeks:
Esther has got her PICC line taken out on week 2. A PICC line is a line that goes straight in her bloodline that gives her vitamins and nutrients. She got it taken out because she is stable and she is eating really really well. She is now starting to get most of her nutrients from breast milk. She still gets caffeine and iron put into the milk. She is also getting calories added to her milk. She is a tiny little nugget and even though she gaining weight, they want her to gain more weight. She is still in 50% of a preemie baby at her age.

She does have low blood sugar sometimes - as of right now they spread out her feeding over two hours. With them adding more calories to her milk, that will help her blood sugars too. She is still getting food through a feeding tube. It won't be till about week 33-34ish that we would start drinking from a bottle or the boob.

Esther is the biggest snuggle bug. Today she snuggled with kyle and me for a total of 6 hours. Kyle and I still have to go into her room separately - but, I held her for 3 hours this morning and Kyle held her 3 hours this afternoon. Sebastian was nEVER that cuddly. He would cuddle for a little bit, but it took a long time for him to cuddle past an hour. Even now, he is not very cuddly. (like at all) I am glad i have a little cuddle monster. lol.

Other than that - we are just adding vitamins and finding the perfect match of what her body wants and needs. It will feel good once we get to 32+ weeks. We then get past a lot of the scary stuff that can happen to micro-preemie babies. So, if you could still send the good vibes our way - we would appreciate all of them! <3
