Journal entry by Cassandra Cano —
Hello everyone, happy Halloween eve! :)
Yesterday we had his follow up appointment at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. After visiting with his doctor, it was definitely an emotional moment for him to be back at the Courage Kenny, but a good emotional. Everyone there was so proud to see his progress! One of his speech therapist he had there is expecting a baby boy, and he wanted to give her a baby gift. She used to play soccer, and if anyone knows my dad he LOVES soccer, so he had to get her a soccer onesie for her baby. She loved it!
Anyways, what we know so far he won’t be able to fully return to work until January 25/26 what his doctor approved for now. And hopefully he’ll make a full recovery sooner than that, only time will tell. He is a bit concerned that after long period of walking, his left leg seems to get tired. That makes him concerned returning to work. So he’ll be continuing physical therapy, to help work with that left leg. Also continuing his occupational therapy for his left arm/shoulder. No more speech therapy!! The therapies did get cut down to once a week for physical, and twice a week for occupational. Occupational is gonna start to work on a driving simulator for him to practice, and they did schedule him a drivers assessment, in December at New Ulm. He has been driving a little bit with someone with. He’s just gotta keep working on those exercises at home! Everything is going so well!!!
