Erin’s Story

Site created on June 21, 2017

Welcome to my Journey.  I had a routine mammogram spring 2017 that I'd been putting off - Ladies don't neglect your detection strategy. If you can choose Thermography (google it)  do that.   What you never imagine will happen to you happened to me and on June 9th I got the call with my biopsy results.  Stage 1, 1cm, Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (plus DCIS) Breast Cancer.  My surgeon recommended Lumpectomy and Radiation assuming there's nothing in the Lymph Nodes then no chemo. Our prayer was answered - successful Surgery! But I'm saying no to any other conventional  treatment based on all I've learned (more on this in my journal updates)- please join us in the fight of prayer Warriors to pray for successful alternative treatment that results in OPTIMAL LONG TERM HEALTH?
I have to tell everyone how this is more than my story. It's a story of how my God has gone before me in this scary journey. He is the one giving me the Strength and the HOPE on this path.
**Just a few weeks before diagnosis my wonderful husband parted ways with his job at our church.  Unbeknownst to us at the time....this is allowing him the ability to better care for me and our son while I recover and follow natural alternative medicine;
** This change also lead us to a new Church (Saddleback) with a great support system of tools and resources for me in this journey.
** The radiologist had to have magician powers or an Angel looking over his shoulder.  They literally almost missed the lump.  Even the surgeon later had difficulty showing us the results.
** My old small group rallied within SECONDS of me telling them. Their prayers and the prayers and support of so many friends and family have literally lifted me up and sustain me each day.
** I planned to go strong in a Fitness challenge group with clean eating as I approach my birthday. It just happened to start three days after diagnosis and it's getting my body healthy and giving my immune system a boost for what's to come.
** Extended family as well as those near have rallied in truly remarkable ways, showing me God's grace all around me.
** The surgeon was just barely able to fit me in on a date that will allow me to recover on our planned vacation to Carmel with family to help.

I know what the medical plan is but I'm not sure that's what God wants for me and for my family.  I'm looking into alternatives all the time and want to hear from God - so please pray for Wisdom in this? Thank you so much for your support and love as we walk together.

Lamentations 3:21-26 Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.  They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness…  The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; …

Newest Update

Journal entry by Erin Sedlewicz

Hello All!

I'm updating and reaching out for prayer for a couple of reasons.  I'm about to schedule a CT scan that my Oncologist and his PA want me to get.  I've been on a "up the healing" mode for a couple months now, using more Essiac and juicing as well as some homeopathy from my Naturopath and I feel the two hot spots in my breast shrinking which is great.  I'm not worried but prayer is always good!  Please pray for a clear CT.

Second thing is that I've recently been inspired to look into starting a Healing Strong group in my area.  See HealingStrong.org for more info.  When I first started on this alternative holistic cancer treatment I read about this ministry but was disappointed to not find any local group to connect with.  I was reminded of this just last week and started looking into what it would take.  It's a financial (minor) commitment as well as time and energy.  I still need to read up on all it entails but meantime am seeking wisdom.  To give you an idea here's their mission statement:
Our mission is to connect, support, and educate individuals in community who are facing cancer and other diseases by focusing on strategies that help to rebuild the body, renew the soul, and refresh the spirit through God’s Word.

I love that each of their pillars ends in this "...By believing that God's design for healing also includes renewing your soul and refreshing your spirit"

I want to be able to support others on their journey.  I hope that God will use my struggle and knowledge gained, to empower others and give them hope.  It can be a lonely road when you shun most of conventional medicine in favor of a better long-term outcome and longer, healthier life. I'm not the one for being on stage or media or making big waves but if I can help just one local person have a place to go for support it would be worth it I think.  If any of you know or have heard about HealingStrong.org or leading a local group, please reach out to me.  Tips, pitfalls, anything is much appreciated.  Your prayers above it all for God's wisdom, strength and guidance are coveted.

You are all precious to me.  Thank you thank you for all the encouraging words and prayers.  They are felt deeply and you have no idea what it means to me.  Love, Erin.
