Journal entry by Lesley Lathrum —
Hey all,
Been mulling this over and how to approach it. But this winter has been the ultimate test for the surgery, and unfortunately it has shown that the procedure did not work for my trigeminal neuralgia. Unfortunately the symptoms for the most part are all back and the pain has heightened to a level higher than it was before in the same places it was before the surgery.
I am back to working with my neurologist and pain management to get through the winter and weather patterns coming through, so it’s been really really rough. I am trying Botox in hopes that it will help with migraines and trigeminal neuralgia now, and am waiting to see if the first round helps. If not I have the next two rounds scheduled with my neuro, so we have a plan in place and I really hope we get my pain under control. If not we are looking at some other surgical orrrr radiation therapy options.
But we will worry about those maybe when we get there because I’ve got a lot on my plate at the moment. Not to mention it is actually 3:45am when I am doing this because there is a winter storm moving through that has me stuck in awake mode because of pain. There was a really close strike of lightening with the storm earlier that was cool that you sleeping people missed and/or were woken up by the thunder. Now let me stop rambling and try to read or sleep or something.
