Journal entry by Erin Herding —
The funny joke I have with my doctor in Rochester is that I keep telling him I don't understand why he says I have cancer - I don't. He laughs. He tells me that when my tests come back from my bone marrow biopsy from this past Monday he needs to see the results at less than 50% in order for us to continue on this track and not make any changes. Last time I was at 100% which meant there was still leukemia lurking about.
Dr. Patnaik (love this man!) called me yesterday morning and actually giggled a little when he said my results were back and that I was right - I don't have cancer!
I'm updating you all to say that I am in complete remission!!! I still have to complete my treatment plan but Dr. Patnaik was very impressed so to speak that my results came back at 0% and I do not have any leukemia lurking about anymore!
People are telling me that it's my positive attitude, staying active, carrying on like I normally do. I have no idea why any of this happened in the first place but I still feel grateful for this life changing experience and will always look back on this year in wonder. I am fortunate to be faced with something that could take my life but instead is teaching me how to live it better. It's a process but I've begun.......
If I could take each and everyone of you that has reached out, sent cards/gifts, sat with me in the hospital or cancer center on a trip around the world it still would not be enough to thank you. I say it a thousand times over - THANK YOU!
My parents I 'd have to take at least twice ;)
