Journal entry by Robin Gustafson —
I cannot believe Erik’s service is already tomorrow.
I want to thank everyone for their ongoing support. We certainly have many things to feel blessed over.
I promised the kids I would communicate a wish of theirs and have one of my own.
Remember, Will, Evie, and Nora are just kids and nothing about this experience has changed that. Their request: “I hope a bunch of people don’t try to touch me”. In a more polite phrase they would really like if their personal space was respected- you certainly can always ask permission to hug them. Fist bumps are always welcome.
My favor, I am working very hard to protect the innocence they have left. Please do not ask them to take care of their mom, help out more, be a grown up in the house. Their only jobs are to be kids and take care of them selves. This is unfortunately a concept they are struggling with. Thank you!!
