Journal entry by Roxanne Schutz —
Dad started radiation this week. He will do one more week (5 days) and then another day on Monday. Then, a PET Scan. Then I believe we wait for a few weeks to see where we are at and plan what the next plan of care is. So far he is tolerating radiation really well. He’s still in good spirits
For those of you confused, he is not doing chemo right now. We have to see if radiation works on his brain before they can try to move to chemo.
All in all, he really likes his doctors and nurses so that is a plus. We just have to take it one day at a time. Right now we are very thankful because he does not need oxygen and he’s able to go to work.
The only thing bothering him right now is the pain and swelling in his legs from the steroids, which he is currently being weened off of.
I received my first dose of the COVID vaccine and only had a sore arm.
I encourage any of you whom have the chance to get the vaccine to do so, not only to protect yourselves, but my father!
Through this process we need to make sure he does not get any sort of infection because it can slow down the process and delay any treatment. So PLEASE do your part to keep not only yourself but us safe as well thank you all for supporting us again! We truly appreciate it
