Eric’s Story

Site created on March 15, 2021

UPDATE: Many of you have begun asking about ways to help and bless Michelle and Eric through this time. We have set up a GoFundMe page for them (https://www.gofundme.com/f/eric-michelle-perry), and you can also find this under the 'Ways to Help' link through CaringBridge.

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Our primary goal for this page to provide all of our family and friend updates on Eric's progress.

On March 1, 2021, Eric had a CT scan due to abdominal pain that was quickly getting worse. The results of the scan showed a mass on Eric’s pancreas, multiple suspected lesions on his liver, and the initial diagnosis was Stage IV pancreatic cancer.  Within a few days we were scheduled to meet with a GI surgeon to discuss the findings and learn what the next steps would be. He explained that surgical removal wasn't possible because of the size of the tumor on his pancreas and the involvement of nearby vessels, so the plan would be to biopsy the tumor on his pancreas and then being chemotherapy. A needle biopsy was performed on 3/8, which confirmed that Eric had an aggressive and rare form of Pancreatic  Adenocarcinoma called Undifferentiated Carcinoma with Rhabdoid features. Our initial consult with the Oncologist was on 3/15 - Eric will begin a weekly regimen of chemotherapy beginning the week of 3/22.  We both liked the oncologist, he was kind, experienced and offered a hopeful outlook on treatment options. We have a few appointments this week and next to find ways to manage Eric's pain.

Specific Prayer Requests:
-Pain Management
-Sleep for Eric
