Journal entry by Jodi McDonald —
Wow, I think we have reached the last day of this journal. Today Eric reaches another milestone in that he headed back to work. He is going to take it slow with half days until he has the energy for full days. He is still building his strength back up; by mid day he usually gets so tired. Not just normal tired, you can see it in his eyes tired. He has been working hard to get to this point. He is walking every day doing small exercises and chores. Yesterday we saw the kidney Doctor who like the other medical professionals looked at Eric shook his head and smiled. He gave him the go ahead to live life normally again.
When Eric put his badge back on for work he commented that the last time he wore it wasn’t a very good day. I reminded him that it was a great day because he lived. We both smiled and took a minute to think about that before he left. I will never doubt or forget God’s blessings through all of this. I find myself walking around filled with gratitude; I was reminded how valuable and precious life is. Eric was somehow able to take a 1% chance and survive.
I guess I want my last message here to be filled with hope, thanks and love. We have so many people to thank (he is still working on the written ones). Our community prayed and supported us. That is so big; when we could barely function friends, family, neighbors, coworkers, medical personnel and strangers did what we needed so that we could get through.
That leaves me with hope and love. I hope that through this journal you can feel both. My family was been showered with love, it’s power has been amazing. I am so aware that our story is special, we got the miracle. Know that I am praying for that same miracle for all of you. When you are in need my (our) prayers will be with you.
Love,
Jodi
