Journal entry by Erick Romero —
Late post, I had saved a draft and forgot to post it.
I'm finally done! My last chemo was on Friday January 29th.
It's been a tough journey. I've felt weaker with each infusion, and have been looking forward to being done. The effects felt cumulative, with each round having stronger side effects. This last time the joint pain was really bad and lasted about a week. It started the Monday after the infusion with the biggest pain on Wednesday and Thursday.
I had a few nice surprises that Lorena organized. She had some friends send in nice videos showing their support and congratulating me on being done with chemo. She had a cake and some signs made. The next day a few of my friends made a parade with decorated cars, balloons, and signs. It was a really nice surprise, I felt a lot of love and emotion to see loved ones show their support. Thank you all, especially thank you to Lorena, the mastermind of the whole operation.
I still have a long journey ahead. My oncologist said it could take months for the fatigue from chemo to go away. I have to endure 33 rounds of radiation starting in early March. But I am glad I am done with this part of the journey, thank you all for your support.
