Dear Family and Friends –

Eric & Kathy and Katrina and Jasmine want to thank you for your prayers and generous support thus far.  We are starting a Caring Bridge site to keep you updated and manage the outpouring of texts and calls.

This journey began with Eric waking up in an ambulance on Tuesday ,11/27/18.  He had a seizure at the wheel, hitting a pole then a tree to stop.  The intersection he rolled through was very busy with rush traffic. We are all very grateful no one else was involved or hurt.

After nine hours in the ER, an MRI revealed a brain tumor, and fractured L-1 and 2.  Of course, this was a total shocker. We appreciated the immediate outpouring of well wishes and support from everyone.  Our family gathered in support.  Jeannine (Kathy’s sister) flew in from Minnesota to support us, Lilly got a constant flow of amazing meals coming in from friends.  We are SO appreciative to each and every one of you!

Eric’s positive attitude, determination and ‘let’s do this!’ attitude has and will served him well.  Brain surgery followed on Tuesday, December 4th.  It went as planned and was considered a big success.  A metal plate, 4 layers of stitches and 37 staples later he looks bad ass for sure. He went home from Redwood hospital the next day! Eric just amazes everyone involved with his care.

Jeannine flew back home on Friday and Susanne (another sister) flew in from Minnesota.  She was with us talking with the surgeon and neurologists. That was appreciated sister.  Eric was at Katrina’s half marathon on Saturday and at Jasmine’s county swim meet Sunday. This proves the power of a Dad’s love for his daughters.

On Tuesday, December 11th, the surgeon updated us on Eric’s pathology report.  The removal of the tumor was a success. That being said, the tumor is cancerous, so the next step is to begin chemo 7 days a week and radiation 5 days a week, for 6 weeks, and then 1 month off (a week of that in Mexico in Susanne and Mike, hopefully). Then 6 months to a year of 5 days of chemo and 3 days radiation.  We are thinking positive and asking for your support and prayers.

You are welcomed and encouraged to share your own thoughts and messages for Eric, Kathy and the girls on this site. We decided to start this site in order to make things easier on everyone. Sending out individual messages or responding to individual texts and emails can become overwhelming. Whether it's Eric, Kathy or me, Susanne, posting in the journal, we hope that the site can keep us all connected. We are glad you're here to show your support. We hope you find this helpful; your thoughts and comments are encouraged and appreciated! Keep the prayers coming. Happy holidays to you and your families.

Love -  Eric & Kathy, Katrina and Jasmine
