Site created on December 10, 2020

745.. waiting for you to come home from work so we can get our van home..750 not home..waiting ..called twice no answer...815 Stacyville fire alarm blows in my gut I knew it was for you...tried calling 2 more times second call was silenced ..few seconds later my phone rings 319 number ...my worse nightmare is happening..a police deputy in possession of your phone calling to tell me only that you were in an accident and would be air flighted to Rochester and that we should wait...wait !!! ...told dont go to scene as won't be able to get to you ..wait... we wait. Finally what felt like forever..shortly after 9..Jeremy received the call you are in transit and a few details of your accident - a semi truck failed to stop at a stop sign and hit you on the driver's side.

Your hope has sustained us, your friendship has surrounded us, your love has given us strength.

We the family of Eric Hackenmiller would like to thank you for your prayers, your kindness, and your extreme generosity through this most difficult time of our lives.  It is sincerely appreciated and will always be remembered.

We realize there is a substantial list of those we’d like to thank; from those that assisted at the scene of the accident to all those that aided in Eric’s care, our families care and needs during and after his stay at Mayo and Osage Hospitals.  Knowing we will miss a few but want to extend a special thank you to our families, neighbors, friends, co-workers, community members, St. Ansgar/Stacyville First Responders, Stacyville Fire Department, Osage Ambulance Crew, Mitchell County Regional Health Center staff, Father Ray Burkle, and Mitchell Schroeder of Schroeder and Sites. To all those individuals that helped give Eric the funeral services he deserved whether it was through music, readings, or those helping with the meal and to all those that donated to Community Cares.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.  Psalms 34:18
