Journal

I did not realize how long it has been since I posted here. With the insanity of the Covid pandemic, I guess I just let some things slide.

Eric is still on the transplant list, but his priority is lower - mainly because of the pandemic, the defibrillator has not needed to restart his heat and his meds are keeping his heart function from decreasing.  It will never increase, but is maintaining where it is.

Defibrillator news - it’s had a few issues.  A few weeks ago it needed to be recalibrated.  Not a big issue to do, but before it was recalibrated, Eric was feeling awful.  It doesn’t help that the computer/battery pack has come out of the muscle pocket and the “box” as we call it is now sitting under his shoulder blade.  It’s uncomfortable, pulls on the leads/wires, BUT since the rise in C-19, they are only doing emergency surgeries right now.  We go in September to see the Defibrillator doc and will go from there.

Meds news - we found out that the injection has to take every other week has latex in the actual medication to help with his veins.  Well - guess who has an allergy to latex.  Every time he took the injection, he was sick for about 3 day’s.  He says it felt like he had the flu - muscle aches, digestive issues… So after jumping through hoops, the insurance company finally approved the one and only other injection.  He has had several other meds changed out, but that’s par for course.

Thankfully he has an awesome Cardiologist.
He refers to Eric as “my delicate butterfly” and he is.  Something as simple as sinus issues and quickly turn to pneumonia for Eric and land him in the hospital.

Our oldest kiddo spent her entire 3rd grade as a remote learner. While at the time she was happy to stay home and keep Eric healthy, she now is very unhappy about it.  She will be going to school in person (thanks Texas Government) for 4th grade and is feeling nervous.  The American Heart Association interviewed her and Eric last year for her campus’ Jump Rope for Heart (they call it something else now) campaign last year.  The entire campus was able to hear Eric and her story.  She totally thinks it’s awesome to be “School Famous” now.

With the cases of Covid on the rise again, please keep Eric in your prayers.

Thank you for your support, love and prayers.  I’ll update again in September.
