Emily’s Story

Site created on May 18, 2020

Emily is currently in the ICU at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. She was admitted late Saturday (5/16) night.  She was intubated due to respiratory distress not related to Covid-19. She developed a complication in her right arm called compartment syndrome. She had underwent emergency surgery. We recieved good news after 2 surgeries from her orthopedic surgeon today that all of her tissue is healthy and will only require skin grafting which will come at a later date. They'll continue to monitor this closely. Today they attempted to wean sedation and their hope was to wean her from the ventilator. Unfortunately,  she was unable to tolerate this and her status remains the same. We appreciate all the love, support and prayers from so many. It is truly uplifting.  Keep them coming!!! We'll continue to make updates as we recieve them. Rolly remains at her bedside and us children are supporting Mom, him and each other from the hospital lobby.
