Emily’s Story

Site created on November 29, 2022

12.01.22 - It’s the start of a new month and now nearing the end of an arduous year. I am blessed to have such a GREAT support system. You helped me cope with the loss of both parents earlier this year and now you are stepping up once again with kind words and actions to get me to & through this journey.
My breast cancer diagnosis came on 9/27 after a mammogram, ultrasound, and ultimately a biopsy that confirmed the tumor.  On 12/27 I will have a bilateral mastectomy with reconstructive surgery, followed by recovery, and then chemo.  This experience has already been exhausting, but I’ll keep pressing through 2023.  I’ll be ok. 😊
I hope this can be a one-stop shop for me to share updates and if you’d like, find ways to offer support. Everybody wants to feed us (LOL) so a Meal Train has been set up (watch for updates) & a Market Wagon link is available to purchase gift cards for those that are not local.  As I find other ways that you can contribute toward my recovery I will them post on this page. Respectfully, please do not send flowers. If I don’t feel up to it my sisters will post updates as needed. And if I don’t say it at the time, please know from the bottom of my heart that I thank you!!   Love, Emily

Journal entry by Emily Price

I (finally) got the call yesterday! No chemo!!! My Oncotype score was low enough that I have the green light to carry on with life as usual! I can’t believe it. 128 days from my diagnosis and I’m cancer free without having to go through chemo or radiation – I’m truly one lucky & blessed girl. 🙏 I will still be on medication for at least 5 years and I’m still working through breast reconstruction (which will include one more surgery). But, you guys, I’m a cancer survivor!! Wait… I’M A CANCER SURVIVOR!! (That’s more like it, lol)

I believe every step of this journey happened for a reason. My scars will always be a reminder of strength & love. Thank you for following this page and riding the wave with me these past several months.
A couple things since this is probably my last post – please get your mammograms & if you or someone you know is diagnosed with breast cancer please feel free to reach out or give them my contact information. I’d be happy to offer any support I can.  Love you all!😘
