Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadow. It’s what the sunflowers do. Helen Keller.
The sunflower 🌻 represents those of us with cancer. Each day we rise. Each day we shine. Each day we hold our heads high. The sunflower 🌻 makes the choice to face the sunshine everyday. Since being diagnosed, I have struggled many days to face the sunshine or to find the strength to hold my head high. It is a choice that each of us with cancer must make each and everyday. The decision to keep getting up no matter how many times we have been knocked down. To continue to smile knowing the uncertainties of one’s future. Being scared, but continuing to laugh in life. To just let go because certain things we just cannot control. To believe in something, whatever that something might be. To make a difference. To inspire someone else to face the sunshine even on their worst days. To be grateful, because even at my worst, I have seen others much worse.
‘Toss kindness around like confetti’
To Felicia, you fought hard my fellow cancer warrior. May you be at peace. ❤️ Em
