Journal entry by Emily Glass

Hi all!

Here we are 4 weeks post-op, and I am feeling better each day, but still a long journey ahead. I am starting to feel more like myself, especially with the help of family and friends. Shout out to THE BEST sister in the world, I couldn't do this without you, Jessica, I love you so much.

Last Thursday I decided it's time come home from Aunt Sue's, and it has helped feel back to myself a little more. Feels good to have more independence! I am very comfortable here, no pain just some muscle tension. I was able to get a prescription for massage once a week do it is covered by my wonderful health insurance through Starbucks. Also, going to the pool at my condo has been very helpful with the physical aspect of my whole body healing. My heart is SO STRONG, the rest of me is just catching up. Once my sternum is fully healed (a couple more weeks or so) I will be starting Cardiac Therapy.

Wednesday the 5th was my 33rd Birthday, and Jessica made it such a special and magic filled day! We had delicious lobster rolls for lunch with a beautiful walk scattered with little fairy homes around a pond, checked out an Artist Collective and Consignment shop (one of our favorite activities) and finished our afternoon at Logee's tropical greenhouses. Also had a wonderful dinner out with Aunt Sue and Uncle Bill 💕

I have received lots of messages, cards and gifts, it's almost overwhelming! I appreciate all of the love and positive energy being sent my way -keep it coming! I would love to have more visitors, I still cant drive for another few weeks. Looking forward to Uncle Mitch and family coming to CT next weekend. Otherwise, I am home alone Tues-Fri. I have been trying to stay active with short walks, but also still feeling restricted and needing rest.

I have a follow up appointment with the cardiologist next week, and have been in good communication with them as questions arise. Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions :) Looking forward to next summer when I am fully healed and better than ever. It's been my whole life I have had this heart, and I can only imagine how much better I am going to feel!

Love,

Emily
