Journal entry by Kat Sticha —
Our little nugget is one month old!
This past week was a bit more stressful with Emil having a staph infection. Fortunately the right antibiotics were given early on and improved his symptoms quite a bit. He'll still need 8 more days of the antibiotics but as of today he seems almost back to his normal saucy self!
In these last two weeks he's bulked up to 2lbs 7oz, got his first round of Dad snuggles 🥰, and his first "tub" bath.
Once he kicks this infection the next goal will be weaning him off the ventilation support and hopefully being able to take one of his two tubes out. (One feeds him and the other pulls air out of his stomach from the cpap, he'll need the feeding tube for quite some time but can have the other pulled out once he doesn't need as much ventilation support)
He's also completely weaned off of humidity so he's able to be swaddled now. Since his startle reflex is so strong it's good for him to be contained so he's not constantly waking himself up! He technically could be wearing clothes too but he's got a little ways to go before he'll fit 😊
The love, care, and generosity the three of us are continously shown will forever be imprinted in our hearts. We have very, very good people in our lives and I am so thankful for each and everyone of you. Despite the stressful days my heart is the absolute fullest it has ever been ❤️
