Journal entry by Kevin Connelly

It is amazing to know how much of a reach friendship has when tragedy strikes.   Last week I received a phone call from Chris, whom  I would classify as a business acquaintance.   We meet face to face maybe once or twice a year and talk one the phone about the same unless business needs required more.  When I took the call, he asked if he could pick me up and go to breakfast tomorrow.  I accepted not knowing that what was going to transpire following our meeting would literally change my current view of life, faith and the afterlife.

On Friday morning, Chris picked me up, we had breakfast, he asked how I was doing and I obliged.   I gave the typical answer most people do when they lost a loved one , “Fine” I said.  Then I went to explain in more detail  the events that transpired with Elva.  He said that he had read my hummingbird story  and that he had shared it with several people.  I was happy to hear that and hoped it gave them peace when they read it.  Then he asked if I read books.  I told him I do not read a lot but when I do it is non-fiction stuff.  He said “I don’t know if you are into this type of thing, but I bought a book for you that I think will help you”.  He said this book is about a neurosurgeon that was in a coma for 7 days and had a near death experience.  It is about his journey into heaven and what experiences he had during his time.  Chris felt that if I read this, it would give me some sense of peace know where Elva truly is and some insight of what it might look like and how beautiful it is.   When Chris dropped me off, he handed me the book.

That evening I started reading the book and found myself not wanting to put it down.  My granddaughter Chloe was staying overnight with me and I was told “Papa its time for bed”. So l put the book down and we went to sleep. At 3 am, I woke up and could not get the book out of my head.   “Its too early” I said to myself.   So I shook off the desire to get up and read.  Now it is 4am, and I am still awake.  I finally gave into the book.  I got myself out of bed, made a large pot of coffee and dove back in the book.  I could not get the pages read fast enough.  I was burning through the words like gasoline on a fire.    Before I new I was reading final page of the last chapter.

Without going into detail about the book.  For me, it gave me a sense of peace and overwhelming joy for my Elva.  She is in a place that is indescribably beautiful and filled with love and happiness.  Elva is with her mom and dad, her sister, our son and all the relatives.   That she truly is an angel watching over me, my children and grandchildren and her friends.  I have more faith in God now than any other time in my life.  I can’t wait to be reunited with Elva and the rest of my family after this earthly body is at rest and my spirit rises to salvation.

Now back to the beginning of this story.  A friend can be described in many ways and does not have to be a constant in your life.  A friend is someone that thinks about you when you are in need of help and finds a way to make it happen.  Mr Hoak did just that and his effort hit the bullseye of the search for peace I was yearning.  I have since told several other friends about this book and thought I should share it with as many more who want to know where their loved ones are or a peak into where their afterlife journey may look like.  Thank you Chris, thank you friend!

Your angels are all around you every day, they are carrying the messages and providing your answers. When you are in need, just ask God for help and he will provide, you just need to listen.

The book is called “Proof of Heaven” by Dr Eben Alexander
