Elora was born with a rare, genetic metabolic disorder called VLCAD that was discovered via the newborn screening.  It has taken us hours to understand.  In short she can not burn fat for energy which means she essentially has an energy problem - i.e. no keto diet or intermittent fasting for her :). Her prognosis is good so long as she can eat a proper diet for her condition, stay hydrated, and supplement with a medicine.  If she can not eat or if her body is expending too much energy, such as in times of illness, she needs to go to the ER for special fluids.  She's either fine or an emergency :) (or on watch during illness).  It may be hard to comprehend as she appears fine, so her disability is 'invisible.' 

At the moment, it is possible she has a separate endocrine (hormone) issue that we are in the process of testing for. 

She is usually a happy toddler who loves to explore!

Elora is home! She had a blood transfusion and overall it went well. The next steps are to follow up with a hematologist and go from there.
