Ellis’s Story

Site created on June 14, 2021

Baby Ellis Ryan Terry, our Tiny But Mighty little fighter, was born May 10, 2021 and left this world far to soon on September 30, 2021. During his short 4.5 months we saw so many doctors and specialists, and we were in and out of the hospital, both in Northwest Arkansas and also in Little Rock. Our precious Ellis was born with a rare genetic disorder called Zellweger Syndrome. The peroxisomes in the cells in his body had trouble doing their jobs. Each cell, in each organ, struggled to perform, and ultimately it became too hard for him to keep up. Ellis took his last sweet breaths in our arms. He was tired. His little body had had enough and he couldn’t fight anymore. As hard as this has been, it is comforting for us to know that he’s been made whole in the arms of Jesus, and he’s not struggling to breathe anymore. Sweet Ellis was always a trooper, and such a precious little soul. He was such a sweet and good baby. We miss him so much… my heart just aches. 💔
But we are grateful God gave us this little miracle who impacted so many lives. Even though his time here was far too short, we are thankful that we got to love on him fully for 144 days.

Thank you for the love, support, and continued prayers for our family! 💙🙏🏼

Journal entry by Sarah Terry

One year ago yesterday I took my second helicopter ride to AR Children’s Hospital in Little Rock. Ellis was 4.5 months old and he had a GI bleed and labored breathing. We didn’t know it yet, but his little body was telling us he was tired. Josh and I didn’t know that this would be our last 2 days with our precious baby. Looking back, I’m glad I didn’t know. We would not have done anything differently, and we could not have possibly loved him any more… Even in the heartache I’m thankful for the 144 days we had with Ellis, and I wouldn’t change the time we had for a minute. We continue to talk about Ellis every day, and I think of him constantly. We love you Elly Belly and we look forward to the day we get to see you again in heaven sweet boy. 🤍

Please join our family for some precious moments of celebration in memory of the beautiful life of Ellis Ryan Terry, who gained his angel wings September 30, 2021.
