It’s been a long two months since Elizabeth penned her last update in June. Unfortunately, I’m penning this now with the news I never wanted to report when I started this site in June 2019.

July was spent in the hospital, battling to beat back this unforgiving disease. At the beginning of August, Elizabeth was strong enough to be released and spend 3 full weeks at home while continuing aggressive treatment. She continued to use her ankle weights and spent up to 15 minutes a day on the recumbent bike, working to build back her strength. She also continued to shop for precious outfits for her girls to wear.

Elizabeth was readmitted to the hospital on Monday, August 23rd.  Scans taken that day showed that the current treatment plan was not doing enough to get her better.   

Elizabeth passed away on the morning of Friday, August 27th surrounded by her family and closest loved ones. It was a beautiful moment: one filled with intense grief and unconditional love all at once. The sun was rising to a clear sky, and Elizabeth’s favorite songs were playing to guide her home.

There aren’t enough words to express our family’s gratitude for all of the texts, calls, prayers, meals, pats on the back, and acts of kindness shown over the last 2 years since her diagnosis. Elizabeth made such a huge impact on all that were lucky enough to know her, and that was evident in the army of support shown to us.
