Update on Elizabeth Tuesday, January 12, 2021 9:15 pm

• Vitals looks good.

• Has not had a fever.

• ICP levels between 8 and 10 today.

• 3% saline she is on is being weined off.

• Still in the process for new tube on pedalyte. It has been placed waiting on confirmation from x-rays to start.

• Ventilator

o O2 levels is 30

o Peep is 10 trying to weining that by every 12 hours

• Still waiting on test results for the cultures taken from the chest and urine. No growth on the urine.

• Ultrasound completed on the left arm. Swollen with the PICC line in but there was superficial clots.

• No updates on blood clot in right leg yet. It was on hold until the EVD is to be removed but it isn’t scheduled to be removed any time soon. If they were to attempt to it right now with the EVD in it could loosen up all of the blood and they don’t want that with the EVD in place. If they were to do that it would possibly create bleeding on the brain. Ultrasounds aren’t typically done when there is a blood clot there. Currently they have the left leg compressed to help prevent any new blood clots. There is still a risk of the blood clot moving but it is minor compared to the EVD. A DVT moving risk is there.

o A deep vein thrombosis, or DVT, is a blood clot that occurs in a vein. A vein is a type of blood vessel that carries oxygen-poor blood back to the heart (versus arteries, which are blood vessels that carry oxygen-rich blood throughout your body).

o DVT blood clots usually occur in the leg, though they can occur in the arm or other veins. The clot can block blood flow and lead to painful swelling in the affected limb. A DVT may also lead to a pulmonary embolism (PE), which happens when a DVT blood clot breaks off and travels through the bloodstream to the lungs.

• Still swelling and bleeding in the brain. Brain is very injured.

• Left eye is still not reacting to light. Right is asymmetric smaller stable and not changing.
