Elizabeth’s Story

Site created on February 5, 2019

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.

The story of Liz's illness began in August 2018 with the sudden onset of severe fatigue. Having been very active -- often logging 4 miles/day with her walks -- the sudden change in her endurance was disconcerting to say the least. Over the next five months Liz saw nearly every kind of -ologist and went through a throng of tests without any clear answers.

In early January 2019, Liz began experiencing stomach pains. Her doctor assumed it was appendicitis, however, upon reviewing the scans they discovered a large mass in her lower abdomen. Ten days later she met with a gynecological oncologist. In late January they performed an exploratory surgery and soon the diagnosis of Stage IIIc Ovarian Cancer was confirmed.

She will begin chemo treatments in mid-February as her team of doctors and support system explore the best treatment options.

We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement as Liz and her family begin this journey. Thank you for visiting.
