Discharge day! 👏🏼👏🏼 After 10 days here, we are heading home. We are happy, especially Elin, who is excited to get back to school. Here’s a rundown on what’s happening:
*Elin is still dealing with an infection that was identified in August. It is responding to antibiotics. She will go home with a picc line and receive one of her antibiotics through it. Her picc is in her upper arm. Her other antibiotic (Flagyl) is oral and very awful tasting. 🤢 Anne has been educated on how to administer the antibiotic every 6 hours. Hopefully the PICC line will only be necessary for a few weeks.
*Her mouth is healing well after her procedure and the doctors are even talking about dental implants in the coming months!
*Elin’s leg (where they took her fibula bone to make her jaw) is healing great and she has no problem walking or hopping or running.
*Elin will return to Minneapolis for a routine xray on her leg and some other appointments in the coming the next few months.
*As you can see in the pictures, Elin was entertained often by the wonderful staff here at the hospital. She had music therapy, and a mani/pedi. We had a God Wink, too; a wonderful man in the gift shop told Elin to pick out a toy and he would pay for it. Kindness personified! ❤️
Your prayers, well wishes, and love for Elin have helped big time. ❤️ We continue to be thankful to the dedicated doctors, nurses and staff who help Elin medically, but also take the time to engage her and talk to her. We are so appreciative! Most importantly, we thank God for His loving presence and His love for Elin.
