Newest Update

Journal entry by Ranell O'Kane

It is a great day filled with great news and a great God!

Eleanor had her follow ups today, which included a post-operative check up, ultrasound, swallow study and feeding therapy. We have good movement on all fronts.

The swallow study results were and I quote, "phenomenal". Riley was even asked if they could use Eleanor's imaging and video for training purposes. Eleanor will keep her NG tube for the ride home and once settled in at home her feeding schedule will change from: 20 hrs total feeding time with 4 hours total break in between - to - 18 hours total feeding time with 6 hours total break in between. She will be using a bottle for as much as she can drink, with the goal being finishing the bottle. If she isn't able to finish the bottle there's a whole sub-section paragraph 4 clause for how to handle. Or for you excel fans, a giant nested IF THEN statement.

The appointment with the cardiologist went well. Eleanor will be seen in Kansas as well where they will do their own ECHO. They'll work towards the goal of getting her off the oxygen support. As Riley says, "One tube at a time" (dibs that for a NICU t-shirt idea).

Not a lot of follow up from the ultrasound BUT they are going home so we will say no news is good news. All these appointments ending in the sweet, sweet words "we are going home".

Let's stop a moment and realize it has not even been 3 weeks. 3 WEEKS since Eleanor was rushed into surgery, put on bypass, and her life saved. We are so thankful for all of your support, whether that came in the form of prayers, encouraging words, or even following these CaringBridge updates and showing you cared by just being here.  Thank you for your love and the care you have for this amazing little mountain mover who has put us all in awe and who, at her entry into this world, is already a display of God's great power.

Oceans (Where Feet May Fail) - Hillsong

You call me out upon the waters
The great unknown where feet may fail
And there I find You in the mystery
In oceans deep my faith will stand

And I will call upon Your Name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine

Your grace abounds in deepest waters
Your sovereign hand will be my guide
Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me
You've never failed and You won't start now
