Elaine’s Story

Site created on February 13, 2024

On Sunday, February 11 Elaine suffered a ruptured thoracic aneurysm.  My dad rushed her to the hospital and she was rushed into surgery.  The surgeons believe my dad's quick actions and the grace of God are what saved her life.  Survival rate for a ruptured aneurysm is very, very low.  She had a stent graft placed in her aorta Sunday evening and was taken to the ICU where she remained sedated and on a ventilator.  Thank you for all of your prayers.  This is an absolute miracle.

Journal entry by Michelle L Brunz

My apologies for not updating you all frequently.  Mom was moved out of the ICU over the weekend.  She was moved to a transitional unit.  She continues to try and gain strength but is still very weak.  She doesn’t have much of an appetite at all.  She still has drains in her chest.  We are praying that the drainage in her chest will decrease enough so her chest tubes can come out.  Because those drainage tubes do cause her pain.  She has been up and walking with assistance.
We are thankful that Justin is still there helping with dad.  Dad is doing ok.  There are so many of you who have sent so many beautiful prayers and messages.  We are so thankful for you all.

She is now in room 5708 at Health Park Medical Center in Fort Myers.
