Journal entry by Cynthia Feeny —
This past weekend, we celebrated the life of my husband, Edwin. As each day passes I am realizing more and more what a gift from the Lord and a privilege I had to walk alongside Edwin and watch him live out his faith.
As God leads me to continue my earthly journey without Edwin, I am comforted by the promise that my Lord is by my side. “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand,” Isaiah 41:10.
Close to a year ago (January 2019), God began to prepare for me a foundation to stand on by providing me many verses, such as this one: “Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the LORD God is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation,’ Isaiah 12:2.
To know that He prepared me for this path a year ago reminds me again of what a loving God I serve, and I want to be a good steward of this trial that has been appointed to me by my Heavenly Father for my good and His glory. “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good for those who are called according to His purpose,” Romans 8:28.
He knows the depth of my grief. He is near the brokenhearted. He is holding me in His tender arms and pouring out His sufficient grace upon me for each moment. He comforts [comes alongside] me and is strengthening me to be able to walk forward and reminding me that I do not need to be concerned about what lies ahead. Instead, He’s teaching me to be consumed with the promise that He walks alongside me, sustaining me and enabling me. God is unfolding a beautiful picture of how He is close to the brokenhearted surrounding them with grace and truths from His Word.
I want to thank everyone who has come alongside us, provided us comfort, met physical and emotional needs. Your love, acts of service, texts/cards and prayers have meant so much to our family. It is a beautiful picture to see how God uses one another to minister to the Body of Christ.
On Christ the Solid Rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand.
