Hello all. Yesterday Ed had his port put in. Chemo will be administered through the port so as to not blow out the veins in his arm. Today we met with the oncologist to discuss the components of the chemo cocktail. Treatment will be very aggressive.
Ed’s first chemo treatment is scheduled for Monday morning at 7:30. We will be there most of the day and Ed will go home with a pump that will contain 2 more days of chemo that will continue to pump into him. Wednesday he will go back to the clinic to have the pump removed. He has a prescription for nausea should he need it. The pharmacist said it’s the Cadillac of nausea meds so let’s hope it does the trick!
Chemo treatments will be every other week.
Today he also had genetic testing. He just had to spit into a vial that will be sent out to a lab. Results should be back in 3 weeks and will let us know if Gabby needs to be tested for the gene should this be hereditary.
Other things coming up are appointments with an endocrinologist, nutritionist, and a chest CT scan. Regular bloodwork will also become a part of Ed’s schedule.
For now, life at 87 Carrier Ave is very much day by day with no long term plans. We do intend on being at Relay for Life on June 14th at Norton High School. Ed says he’ll be there no matter what!! Ed has some high school friends who make up the “Circle of Sistas” Relay team and we’ve gone for the past few years to support them. Please feel free to join us even if for just one lap!!
Ed continues to take morphine and OxyContin for pain around the clock. He had hoped to work most of this week, but the pain from the port and general overall pain just doesn’t make it worth it. He is working Sunday for a few hours...mostly to say goodbye to his staff and customers. Monday he begins short term disability.
That’s about it for now. Sorry for the long post! Feel free to leave this group with no hurt feelings!!
Keep the prayers and positive vibes coming!!
MJ 💜💜💜💕
