Journal

I will update more later with the breakdown of what happened on Friday, November 22nd. Right now we just want to let everyone know that little Edward passed away that night, surrounded by family and in the arms of his mother. I'll paste the obituary write-up here for anyone that may be interested in attending. Thank you all so very much for everything you did for us and our little family throughout all this. To say we feel numb doesn't quite seem to do it justice. All are welcome to attend on Sunday, as we welcome all friends, family and guests to share in his short life with us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Sincerely,
Dan, Laura and Victoria Borntrager

Edward Patrick Borntrager June 18th, 2019 – November 22nd, 2019

Edward Patrick Borntrager passed away November 22nd, 2019, in his mother’s arms and surrounded by family. Edward spent the entirety of his 5 short months and 4 days at Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis after being born with congenital heart defects and pulmonary hypertension. He was a fighter who fought hard until the very end, and despite everything still managed to find the strength to smile and laugh through it all. He loved to watch the balloons in his room, story time, and listening to any kind of music we'd play in his room.

“Eddie P.” is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Edward Sanden, and is survived by his parents, Dan and Laura Borntrager and sister Victoria; maternal grandmother Donna Sanden; paternal grandparents David and Mary Borntrager; aunt and uncle’s on Laura’s side, Kia, Mike (Anne), and James; uncles on Dan’s side, Jeremy (Tonya), and Ben; cousins Matthew, Faith, George, and Remy; and a plethora of great-aunts, great-uncles, and other relatives and friends who loved Edward dearly.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Minneapolis Children’s Hospital CVCU in Minneapolis, MN for all of the incredible care they gave to Edward and his family.

The family will receive family, friends, and guests from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, December 1st, 2019, at Washburn-Mcreavy Coon Rapids Chapel, 1827 Coon Rapids Blvd NW, Coon Rapids MN. There will be a short ceremony to close at 3p.m. Some light refreshments will be provided.
