Ed’s Story

Site created on July 14, 2016

Welcome to our CaringBridge site. We've created it to keep friends and family updated. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement during this time when it matters most.

Hi All

It's Kelly (Ed's daughter) and thanks for visiting.

A brief background is that Ed was diagnosed with DLBCL (diffuse large B cell lymphoma) earlier this year.  He started chemotherapy on May 10 but unfortunately had a mixed response and is now on a new chemotherapy regimen that will hopefully take him to a "stem cell transplant".  He will be starting the second cycle of the new chemo on 8/4 which requires him to be hospitalized for 2-3 days.  The plan will then be to repeat a PET scan later in the month to determine if this second chemo regimen is working to shrink the cancerous areas; mainly lungs and thyroid.

The next scan will determine future treatment:  praying for a transplant.

He is such a brave and wise man.  Truly the rock of our family and our backbone of strength.  We are all saddened by his condition and inconvenient disease.  As many of you know, Margie relapsed earlier this year as well.  She went back on chemotherapy a week before he started his first.  She remains a "woman of steel" and stable, with only 2 more treatments to go, then a chemo break for her. (she also has a site: margiestjohn) but it hasn't been updated.

So, as usual - prayers always welcome.

Thanks for visiting, God Bless to All.

quick update on Dad as well (I just posted on Mom's site).  He remains in R E M I S S I O N!!!
As of February 1st, the scan remains clear.  What a blessing and truly amazing.  They then took off to Florida but unfortunately my Mom's health brought them back early and she is home on hospice.  He is the best caretaker and loves his red head tremendously!!!
Keep the prayers coming during this difficult family time.
