Edith ’s Story

Site created on February 2, 2021

First THANK YOU for all the support and prayers coming our families way.  It is a great blessing to know you have family and friends there when it is most important. This page has been created to help everyone stay up to date on what is going on. Entries will be posted as we get new updates.

These past few months have been a journey filled with lots of challenges, and it hasn’t been very easy. On December 7, 2020 my father Pedro who had dealt with kidney failure and who was using dialysis, got his kidney transplant after 5.5 years of waiting. Just two weeks ago he finally returned home and is now continuing his recovery process. Though during this time my mother Edith was also beginning to develop health problems as well. Towards the end of October and early November Edith began having pain in her lower back and all down her leg. After two months of Dr. appointments we found out it was colon cancer in January of 2021.

On February 2nd, Edith had her first chemo treatment and is continuing the start of her recovery. We are so grateful for all of you and the continued unconditional overwhelming outpouring of love.

Journal entry by Saraí Fraga

We are currently at the Cancer Center for my mom’s second round of chemo. Her white blood cell count was higher and they were able to do the treatment, they also said that her labs looked much better today. She feels better today and woke up with a smile, which is very good 🥰 She has also been sleeping more this week. Before she was mostly restless and only slept 1-3 hours a night and had lost of pain, along with lots of lack of appetite these past weeks. I’ve been seeing her improvement little by little and praying it continues to keep being this way. Please keep my family in your prayers and we are so blessed for everyone that is ❤️❤️❤️
