Eddie’s Story

Site created on December 26, 2023

On Christmas Eve, Eddie experienced pain in his shoulder and trouble breathing. Sam got him to the ER in Plymouth where doctors discovered lesions on his kidney, lung, brain and spinal cord. He was quickly transferred to Beth Israel in Boston. He began radiation on Christmas Day.

To go from working on a construction site one week to being unable to walk the next means the cancer is very aggressive. And, as it’s in his nervous system, doctors are considering this a case beyond stage 4. It is currently inoperable.

However, Eddie is young and otherwise very healthy. And he has a lot to fight for.

Eddie is a husband, a son, a brother and a friend. He is an amazing uncle, not only to Sutton, Daxton, Evie and Donovan (who think he hung the moon), but also to the children of his friends. He is fiercely loyal, has an incredible sense of humor and gives the best hugs. Eddie’s smile is contagious.

We gratefully invite you to show your love and support for Eddie and Sam in one of these ways:

Prayer and positivity- We are praying for a miracle. We ask that you pray for healing to Eddie’s body and soul as well as strength for Sam. Please send your prayers and positive thoughts to Eddie. Recommendations or advice on resources that may help Eddie. To help us track these in one place, please use this Google form to share your valuable suggestions:  https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1W8_YF4i8oyHiO-T-N-rg5je8sVx2Qhs9rZC5BS0Li9Q/viewform?edit_requested=true

Donations- Because Eddie is otherwise healthy, doctors are willing to try as many treatments as he can tolerate. Insurance won’t cover it all.  Right now, we don’t know what the future holds. He is currently paralyzed from his chest down, although he’s begun to have involuntary movement in his right foot. Any funds raised will go to medical costs and insurance deductibles, meals and groceries, wellness treatments and supportive therapies, mental health care, and beyond.  With this being so early in his cancer journey and due to his possible extended stay in the hospital, a donation of any size to Eddie’s Go Fund Me would help ease the burden of this trying time, so Eddie can stay focused on healing without added financial pressure. https://gofund.me/abe67b33

Thank you for any support you can offer. Eddie, Sam and his family are lucky to have such a supportive community of caring friends. We know this will play a critical role in giving him the strength to continue to fight.

With love and appreciation,

Sam, Leslie, Dennis, Katie and Leanne

Going forward, we will be giving updates on the Go Fund Me as it was brought to our attention that this site is asking for donations that go to them versus Eddie.
