Dylan continues to have positive wonderful news at each Doctors appointments. After last weekend he returned to Kari’s. On Tuesday he went to see Dr Sloan. He is the MD that oversees all the therapist’s that have been working with Dylan. He asked Dylan questions about different analogies and the meaning of them. This was hard for Dylan and Kari said it was hard for her too! The best part of the visit is that the doctor gave the ok for Dylan to work and drive again!! Dylan said he was a bit hesitant because, like we have been told by the healthcare workers before that it seems a bit fast, only 6 weeks after his accident. But he is ready and has past all tests!
Dylan stayed at Kari’s until Thursday. I went to pick him up for his Occupational  therapy and speech therapy appointments and he had his bags packed ready to go back to Big Lake after his appointments.
At OT Dylan was asked to stare at a page with 20 objects for 90 seconds. Try and remember as many objects as you can. She than would ask him what he saw and 15 minutes later ask again what he remembered. He did not “grade” so well but they said that was to be expected. He still needs to work on his memory skills. We than met with Molly from Speech. She wanted to give Dylan some tools to use when returning back to work. What can he do to help remember tasks at work and not make mistakes?
As I have said before Dylan is doing so much better than anyone had anticipated. He is so appreciative and grateful to everyone who has been there for him! We have had many conversations about how lucky he is and it is up to him now to use his best judgement in all decisions he makes in the future. Always wear a helmet when riding anything, if you have to think for a split second is this a good idea, it’s not! We as his family and friends do not want to see him or any of or loved ones go through this again.
Here’s to Dylan and this next week of returning to work and driving again! Take it slow and steady, do not over do it! Take breaks when needed and get lots of rest! Your brain is still healing.❤️🥂
This picture attached is him making Mac and cheese. One of the tests to do for OT. 😀
