Newest Update

Journal entry by Stacy Michalski

Hello all! As usual I will start this update with an apology as I have been terrible at updating this site!! Sometimes I can't believe that we are in the beginning of our 8th  month on this journey and other times it seems that time can not move fast enough. Since our last update we have transferred 2 days a week of therapy to CHOA..we are happy about making that move even though the drive really stinks!! Dylan sees occupational, physical and speech therapists there and we have started an additional 2 hours of physical therapy once a week near our house. He is making strides at walking, we are currently using both an upright walker and a hemi walker at home for very short distances, Dylan is making independent steps with his right foot but still requires help with his left. Dylan got his final swallow evaluation a few weeks ago and passed it ! He was cleared to have his feeding tube removed and we plan to do that in the next few weeks. I am not sure who is happier to see him devour chic fila breakfast minis and steak quesadillas but we are all thrilled that he is back to eating all of the good stuff! In other exciting news Dylan was able to “walk/roll” my mom down the aisle at her wedding which was another testimony to how lucky and grateful we are that he survived all he has been through! Their wedding was October 2 exactly 8 months from the day of his rupture.  Ironically October  is AVM awareness month and my mom and her new husband  gladly celebrated dylans and all AVM warriors battles and victories! In other news we will be checking into CHOA for the replacement of his skull on the 13th of October.  We plan to be in the hospital 3-5 days and pray all goes according to plan! I will update again once we are home from hospital!I added  a few pics with some of the happenings over the last few months!! Thanks for continuing to keep Dylan and our entire family in your prayers! ❤️❤️
