This post is well overdue. Dylan finished chemo on September 11th and boy did we celebrate! We surprised him with a family trip to Kalahari and had a celebration with his friends. He also got to ring the bell signifying his end of treatment at the clinic. It has been a whirlwind full of many mixed emotions.
Dylan will still have to go to the clinic every 6 weeks or so for the foreseeable future to have lab checks. One of the many lessons we have learned throughout this process is to take it one day at a time and not focus on the what ifs. We have been gifted so many memories and been blessed in more ways than we can count and we choose to focus on that moving forward.
I am learning to adjust to a world where Dylan does not need me as much. I am both grateful for this change and missing the time spent together. He has always been so independent and the last couple of years have bonded us in unbreakable ways. I will always be in awe of his spirit, his excitement for life and how resilient he continues to be. Come what may, we are still a team and I’ve got his back 100% whether from near or far away. Look out world, here he comes!
Thank you for seeing us through! We are so thankful for our wonderful community that has walked with us all 795 days of treatment!
God is good all the time,
Heather and Christopher Coy
