Journal

Hello everyone….sorry it has been awhile since our last update! We have been crazy busy with a toddler as well as some medical issues.

Back in August we noticed that Dustin’s pelvis was tilting and his left leg was shorter than his right. His PTs and providers kept saying it is a functional leg length discrepancy, because his left side is gaining more muscle than his right pulling up his pelvis and leg so we went with it. It really started to hinder his PT and his left side spasms seemed to be getting worse so we knew something was up. We have been going to numerous doctors and are having many tests. So far we have learned that he has effusion in his left hip that has been drained, but we still don’t have the root cause. We know that his spasms on his left side are causing the pelvic tilt but what is causing his spasms and excess joint fluid? The final tests are 4 MRIs next week so we are hoping they help with answers. PT has been on hold for a while as well as training sessions with his new personal trainer who is also paralyzed and a great motivator for Dustin until this is figured out. We are really hoping to get back to some activity soon!

I have taken some leave from work to get all of this figured out so we can get back to some good progress. I have also been working on getting our house as organized as I can with a toddler so that everything is easily accessible for Dustin. We have seen that organization and a system in place makes a huge difference in his quality of life as well as makes things easier for me.

Some positive news:

We officially have a vehicle Dustin can drive!  We put hand controls in my car and his truck is being adapted as we speak.

Our home renovations are finally done besides some touch ups that we have been doing.

We have been getting in a good groove with this new life. It is still incredibly difficult but is getting easier to handle.

This early Spring and time off have allowed us to get a lot of property clean up done.

Tillie has been an extremely wonderful kid, and we have been enjoying watching her grow up. She is getting into the age too where Dustin can watch her more independently as well which is a big help.

Hopefully we have a better next couple of months!
