Journal entry by Kate Ashcraft —
Today marks the one-year anniversary of the day DeWayne was admitted to the hospital with Covid pneumonia. I thought I’d post an update for those wondering how he has been doing.
For the most part, life is back to normal. DeWayne no longer requires oxygen supplementation and can do all of his regular daily activities. He is back to work full-time in the office. He still gets winded more easily than he did before so, no hikes for him just yet. Physical therapy ended long ago but, he now works out with a physical trainer twice a week and says he feels much stronger than he was pre-Covid.
His taste is slightly off still; some flavors dominate and change the way things taste to him now. He also smells a burning smell from time to time.
I think we consider the day he came home as the anniversary for measuring recovery. So, I guess he has two months to make even more improvements.
Thanks for all the love and support and prayers this past year. We are truly blessed to have so many wonderful friends and family in our lives.
Peace,
Kate
